On September 24, 2020 Sergeant Michael Sigmon observed a motor vehicle traveling
northbound on Dixwell Avenue that matched the description of a vehicle that was taken
earlier in a carjacking in New Haven.
After a brief, low-speed pursuit, the 6 occupants inside of the vehicle, exited and fled on
foot in the area of Earl Avenue. Officer Ronald Glifort, who was off-duty, and clad in his
sleeping attire, engaged the juveniles on foot, which led to the apprehension of 5 of the
6 juveniles.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle was in fact stolen in an armed car-jacking in New
Haven.
The 5 juveniles were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny in the 3rd Degree and
Interfering with a Police Officer. The New Haven Police Department responded and
continued the armed carjacking investigation.
