On October 12, 2020 at approximately 7:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the
report of a “pedestrian struck” in the parking lot of Clarion Inn and Suites, 2260 Whitney
Avenue.
Upon arrival, Hamden Fire Rescue was rendering medical aid to a 40 year-old Hamden
resident. The victim suffered numerous injuries, including a fractured pelvis. He was
transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
Investigation revealed that the victim and his girlfriend, Jennifer Bonaparte, were
engaged in a verbal dispute, outside of the front door of the hotel. Moments later,
Bonaparte entered her motor vehicle and struck the victim, knocking him to the ground.
Bonaparte then ran over the victim with her vehicle. After several seconds, Bonaparte
placed her vehicle in reverse. Further investigation revealed that Bonaparte’s vehicle
appears to briefly “rest on top” of the victim, before “backing up over his body in
reverse.”
Hamden Police arrested Jennifer Bonaparte, 43, of 2260 Whitney Avenue, Apartment
201, Hamden. She was charged with 2 counts of Assault in the 1st Degree, Breach of
Peace in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Operating under Suspension and Operating
without Insurance. Bonaparte, who is being detained on a $25,000.00 bond, is
scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on October 13th.
