This morning, during the early morning hours, Hamden Police responded to two armed street robberies and an armed carjacking. A synopsis of the incidents is detailed below.
At approximately 12:30a.m. Hamden Police responded to the 300 block of Goodrich Street on the report of an armed street robbery. A 31 year-old “Door Dash” driver was delivering food to a Goodrich Street residence. He was approached by “4 or 5 black males.” One of the males displayed a firearm. The males demanded that the victim provide them with money and the keys to his vehicle. The males then attempted to steal his vehicle, but were unsuccessful, due to their fear of the victim’s dog, that was inside of the vehicle. A bag containing food was stolen from the victim.
A half hour thereafter, Hamden Police responded to Dawes Avenue on the report of an armed street robbery. A 45 year-old “Uber” driver was parked in front of a residence. He was approached by “2 black males” that were both pointing a firearm at him. The males demanded his personal belongings. They subsequently stole his wallet, cell phone and car keys. They fled from the area, southbound on Treadwell Street, inside of a dark-colored SUV.
Minutes later, Hamden Police responded to the area of Goodrich Street and Newhall Street on the report of a carjacking. The victims were parked at Villano Park. They reported that “4 to 5 young black males exited a vehicle.” Two of the suspects “pointed guns” at them. The suspects then reached into their pockets, before stealing their vehicle. The stolen vehicle, a blue Lexus, was last observed traveling southbound on Winchester Avenue.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 230-4000.
