On November 14, 2020 at approximately 12:15a.m. Officer Keron Bryce observed the operator of a motor vehicle proceed through a red control signal at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Arch Street. He subsequently conducted a motor vehicle stop on Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of Putnam Avenue.
Investigation led to the search of the vehicle. Officer Bryce located a loaded 9 mm handgun, which contained a magazine with 13 bullets. Further investigation revealed that the operator of the vehicle, Jonathan Richardson, was in violation of a protective order. Richardson was promptly arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Hamden Police arrested Jonathan Richardson, 36, of 41 Maple Street, New Haven. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Violation of a Protective Order and Interfering with a Police Officer. Richardson, who was detained on a $150,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on November 16, 2020.
