On December 22, 2020 at approximately 2:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the intersection at Dixwell Avenue and Skiff Street on the report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.
Investigation revealed that a vehicle that was operated by Thomas Dougherty struck the rear of another vehicle. The operator of the vehicle that was struck, a 22 year-old Hamden resident, was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with a head injury.
Officers determined that Dougherty was under the influence of narcotics. Several items were seized from his vehicle, including, 6.8 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, pills (Clonazepam, Adderall, Xanax) and a bottle of Methadone.
Dougherty, 32, of 380 Mather Street, Hamden was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Operating without Insurance and Following too Closely. He was criminally charged with 6 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Dougherty, who was released after posting a $5,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on February 23, 2021.
