On December 31, 2020 between 8:27a.m. and 9:08a.m. Hamden Police responded to two street robberies. One of the street robberies involved a firearm.
The following is a brief synopsis of the two incidents:
08:27 – Officers responded to Pearl Dental Care, 1834 Dixwell Avenue on the report of a street robbery. Investigation revealed that a 58 year-old employee arrived at work and was walking towards the front door. A motor vehicle, described as a dark-colored sports utility vehicle, stopped next to her. A “young” male exited the vehicle and demanded her purse. She refused, at which time she was “taken to the ground.” Upon screaming, the male fled in the SUV, eastbound on Robert Street.
09:08 – Officers responded to a Four Rod Road residence on the report of an armed street robbery. Investigation revealed that a 57 year-old male was seated inside of his vehicle, which was parked in his driveway. Another vehicle stopped in front of his residence. A male subsequently approached him and placed a firearm to his head, while demanding money. The male then fled from the area with an undisclosed amount of money.
