On December 16, 2020, Hamden Police responded to the area of Pine Rock Avenue and Arch Street on the report of a shooting. Darlene Brown died, as the result of a gunshot wound. Her husband, Derrick Miller, suffered a gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
Detective Joseph Liguori was assigned to conduct the investigation. He subsequently submitted an arrest warrant affidavit to the court for Miller. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On December 29th, Miller was discharged from the hospital. He was promptly arrested and transported to police headquarters. Miller, 57, of 255 Pine Rock Avenue, Apartment 17, Hamden was charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Illegal Alteration of a Firearm. Miller, who was detained on a court-ordered $500,000.00 bond, was scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on December 30th.
The investigation is continuing.
