On January 19, 2021 at approximately 6:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to the area of Putnam Avenue and Glendale Street on the report of “two pedestrians struck by a motor vehicle.”
Investigation revealed that a motor vehicle, which was operated by a 28-year-old Hamden resident, was traveling westbound on Putnam Avenue. The vehicle first struck a 59-year-old Hamden resident, who was standing in the travel lane, attempting to cross the street. The operator of the vehicle then continued westbound, striking a 70 year-old Hamden resident that was standing in the street.
The 59 year-old pedestrian suffered a life-threatening head injury. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment. The 70 year-old pedestrian suffered a leg injury. She was also transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene. The Hamden Police Department Traffic Division is continuing the investigation.
