On February 3, 2021 at approximately 10:00p.m. Hamden Police responded to Lakewood Apartments, 1199 Whitney Avenue on the report of an unwanted person.
Officers were informed by property management personnel that an individual used a crowbar to forcibly enter the front lobby and steal a package. Officers were further advised that the individual fled from the area in a “minivan type of vehicle.”
Shortly thereafter, Officer Timothy McKeon and Officer Eduardo Diaz observed the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the crowbar and other stolen packages. In addition, several empty Amazon boxes were located in the area. The empty boxes were addressed to 1199 Whitney Avenue and 1204 Whitney Avenue.
Hamden Police arrested Eric Manley, 53, of 78 Homeside Avenue, Apartment 1, West Haven. He was charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, Larceny in the 6th Degree and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd Degree. Manley, who was detained on a $10,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on March 31st.
