On February 26, 2021 at 3:10a.m. Hamden Police responded to Quinnipiac University, 275 Mount Carmel Avenue on the report of a “possible fight between two roommates.”
Upon arrival Officer Paul Calamita found a 20-year-old student with a “large laceration” on his neck. The student advised police that while he was asleep, his roommate “jumped on top of him” and began punching him in the face. During the physical assault, his roommate “cut his throat” with a knife.
Officer Calamita, with the assistance of Quinnipiac University Public Safety, were able to negotiate with the roommate and take possession of the knife.
Investigation revealed that the altercation stemmed from an argument they had about a light in their room.
Both parties were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment.
The investigation is continuing.
