In July of 2020, the Hamden Animal Control Division responded to a Rockview Road residence on the report of “multiple sick dogs.”
Animal Control Officers located an older Pit Bull that was severely emaciated. The dog was infested with fleas, dehydrated and “appeared weak.” ACO’s further located 3 younger Pit Bulls that were suffering from several medical conditions, including, skin inflammation, severe dermatitis, lung worm and flea infestation.
We sadly report that the older Pit Bull had to be humanely euthanized due to his grave medical condition.
Former Hamden Assistant Animal Control Officer Parris Gibbs conducted the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Edward Chieppo. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On April 15, 2021, Hamden Police arrested Chieppo, 34, of Rockview Road in Hamden. He was charged with 4 counts of Cruelty to Animals. Chieppo was released after posting a $2,000.00 court-set bond. He is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on May 13th.
