On May 13, 2021, at approximately 12:15a.m. Hamden Police responded to the 1500 block of Dixwell Avenue on the report of “shots fired”, with two possible victims.
Officers located a 20-year-old New Haven resident, in the vicinity of Dixwell Avenue and Pershing Street. She was suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest. Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical aid at the scene. She was subsequently transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Officers learned that a second victim, a 22-year-old Hamden resident, was shot multiple times and suffered injuries to his buttocks, hand and pelvis. A Good Samaritan, observed the shooting victim “on the ground.” She quickly “dragged” him into her vehicle and drove him to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
