On March 28, 2021, Hamden Police responded to Family Dollar, 1245 Dixwell Avenue on the report of an assault with injuries.
Investigation revealed that Clinton Edwards “ran” behind the counter and stole 4 cartons of cigarettes. A 19-year-old employee attempted to stop him. Edwards subsequently “shoved” the employee and then struck him in the head with his elbow. The employee suffered a head injury and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Edwards fled in a motor vehicle, southbound on Dixwell Avenue.
Officer Jay Bunnell conducted an investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Edwards. The court approved the arrest warrant application.
On June 10, 2021, Hamden Police arrested Edwards, 50, at Meriden Superior Court. Edwards was charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree and Larceny in the 6th Degree. He was detained on a court-ordered $10,000.00 bond. He was arraigned later in the day.
