*Update on stabbing from Monday 11/29/21*
On 11/29/21 at approximately 2:15PM, Hamden Police responded to a stabbing that occurred near a city bus stop on Dixwell Avenue, adjacent to Hamden High School. The investigation revealed that two students were involved in a physical altercation just off campus. During the fight, one of the students stabbed the other student in the back.
The 13-year-old suspect was treated for a minor hand laceration. He is a 9th grade student at Hamden High School and was charged with Assault 2nd Degree. He was assigned a 12/13/21 court date at New Haven Superior Court for Juvenile Matters.
The 14-year-old victim, also a 9th grade student, was transported from the scene to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of his injuries and was in stable condition. He was charged with Assault 3rd Degree and assigned a 12/13/21 court date at New Haven Superior Court for Juvenile Matters.
The Hamden Police Department will continue to have an increased presence in the area of Hamden High School.
