On 11/27/21 at approximately 9:00PM, Hamden Police Officers responded to the area of Manila Avenue and Oregon Avenue on the reports of shots fired. A vehicle travelling on Manila Avenue was struck during the gunfire and an 18-year-old female passenger suffered a graze wound as a result of the shooting.

Detective Shawn Nutcher of the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit conducted an extensive investigation which revealed that an occupant of the struck vehicle was the apparent target of the shooting. An arrest warrant was later secured for Cristian Calle, a 20-year-old New Haven resident, who was identified as the shooter.

On 12/29/21, Hamden Police Officers from the Major Crimes Unit and Patrol Division arrested Cristian Calle. He was charged with Assault 1st Degree-Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit and Breach of Peace 1st Degree. He was assigned a 02/09/22 court date in Meriden Superior Court and held on a $500,000.00 court set bond.
