On March 1, 2022 at approximately 9:30 PM, Officer Keron Bryce and Officer Michael Vivenzio were on a high visibility patrol assignment as part of the Hamden Police Department’s Crime Deterrent Unit. The officers stopped a car on Beacon Street near Dixwell Avenue for misuse of a license plate on an unregistered motor vehicle. The vehicle did not initially pull to the side of the road when police activated their emergency lights.
The operator of the vehicle, Antrum Coston, began to resist officers and attempted to flee. Coston was secured by officers and placed under arrest. During the arrest, officers seized a large bag of narcotics, including 100 wax folds of suspected heroin, 55 bags of “crack” cocaine and 11 bags of powder cocaine. Coston was in possession of $2,650.00 cash at the time of his arrest, which was also seized by police in conjunction with the investigation.
Antrum Coston, age 39, of New Haven, was charged with two counts of Possession of Narcotics, two counts of Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell and Interfering with Police. He was also charged with Failure to Renew Registration, Improper Use of a Marker Plate and Disobeying the Signal of an Officer.
Coston was held on a $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 5, 2022.
