On 05/17/22 at approximately 6:30pm, Hamden Police Officers were assisting State of Connecticut Adult Probation Officers with serving Probation Violation arrest warrants. At one of the locations, in the 1500 block of Whitney Avenue, a vehicle sped forward in a driveway and collided into some brush.
A passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Javon Mooring, fled on foot and was quickly apprehended by officers. Police located illegal narcotics and $846.00 in U.S. currency on his person. Police also recovered a stolen, loaded 9mm firearm.
The operator of the vehicle, later identified as Gemini Napoleon, was also taken into custody. Inside the vehicle, police located a bag that contained illegal narcotics and $203.00 in U.S. currency.
Mooring, age 43 of New Haven, was charged with Illegal Possession of a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession with Intent to Sell Narcotics (2) counts, Possession with Intent to Sell Hallucinogens and Interfering with Police. Mooring is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on 06/24/22 and was held on a $100,000.00 bond.
Napoleon, age 41 of New Haven, was charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell Narcotics, Reckless Driving and Interfering with Police. Napoleon is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on 06/24/22 and was held on a $50,000.00 bond.
