On April 22nd at approximately 3:45a.m. Officer Justin Thibault observed a motor vehicle proceed through a red control signal at an excessive rate of speed at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Putnam Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was subsequently conducted.

Investigation led to the search of the vehicle. Officers seized “a large butcher knife” that had a 10 inch blade, a digital scale and a bag of marijuana. The operator of the vehicle, Michael Snape, continually interfered with officers throughout the encounter. He was placed under arrest and transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Hamden Police arrested Michael Snape, 22, of 152 Greenwood Street, New Haven. He was charged with Weapons in a Motor Vehicle, Interfering with a Police Officer, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License and Failure to Obey Control Signal. Snape, who was released after posting a $1,000.00 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on May 4th.
